Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari Enzo Goes to Auction, Expected to Sell for Over $5 Million

Whether he is strapped for cash or just wants to make some room for an Aston Martin Valkyrie is still unclear, but Alonso’s rare Ferrari Enzo will be up for sale at the Monaco Car Auctions on June 8th.

Fernando Alonso is a very talented F1 driver and, arguably, a lucky man, as he has been the lucky owner of the first Ferrari Enzo (chassis #1) ever produced. Still, he recently confirmed he would finally let it go to the highest bidder on June 8th in Monaco. And if speculations are to be believed, the rare Italian stallion could sell for well over $5 million.

According to an Instagram post by Monaco Car Auction, Alonso’s Enzo has around 4800 kilometers (3000 miles) on the clock — low mileage indeed, even for such a collector car. The vehicle boasts a timeless Rosso Corsa paint finish, complemented by elegant silver five-spoke wheels. Adding to its uniqueness, this particular Enzo possesses the distinction of being the first production body shell, known as ‘Scocca n.1,’ and has been officially authenticated by Ferrari’s renowned ‘Classiche’ in-house restoration program — no wonder Alonso has been holding on to it for so long.

However, there is still some ambiguity regarding the ownership history of the supercar. It remains uncertain whether Alonso was the sole owner of the car or if it was a gift from his former team, Ferrari, during his tenure from 2010 to 2014. Further clarification is required in this regard. And interestingly, only two other F1 drivers got their hands on a Ferrari Enzo – Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen.

Sure, Alonso’s Enzo probably won’t be the bargain of the century, but the chance of owning such a unique piece from Ferrari may be priceless for some (very wealthy) people. Let’s wait and see how much it goes for at the auction next week!
