While this is not the official announcement, sources say that the upcoming 2023 GMC Canyon will be far more expensive than the model it replaces.
When it was introduced in August 2022, the GMC Canyon truck received very positive feedback from the public. Thanks to the all-new platform with a higher focus on off-roading, a brand-new 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and a modernized design, the 2023 Canyon looked like a massive upgrade over the aging predecessor.
But those upgrades will cost you — the mid-size pickup truck is getting pricier, with GM Authority’s sources revealing that the entry-level model will cost a staggering $10,000 more than the outgoing model! The online publication recently said it has “sources close to the matter.” While the information might not be entirely false, readers are advised to take these details with a pinch of salt.
Part of the price increase may be due to inflation, and the new platform might cost a bit more. But the new truck will only be available as a Crew Cab model — the outgoing Canyon’s $28,995 MSRP was for the Extended Cab model. Still, opting for a Crew Cab 2022 Canyon costs less than $2,000 over the Extended Cab, so the difference remains enormous.
However, the all-new turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder seems like a much better proposition. It produces only two hp more than the 3.6-liter V6 (310 hp) but much more torque at 430 lb-ft vs. 275 lb-ft. Along with the revised eight-speed automatic transmission, it should offer a vastly improved driving experience, with more in-gear pulling power.
According to GM Authority, the MSRP of the entry-level Elevation 2WD trim is $38,095, including destination charges, while the top-end AT4X Edition 1 starts at $66,290.
Here is a table of the complete pricing of the 2023 GMC Canyon:

Elevation | 2WD | Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B | $38,095 |
Elevation | 4WD | Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B | $41,395 |
AT4 | 4WD | Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B | $45,395 |

The all-new 2023 GMC Canyon pickup truck should enter production by January 2023. Hopefully, GMC will reveal official pricing information soon.
