The Koenigsegg Gemera is truly impressive. Be it the massive 2 doors, the 4-seater functionality, amazing boot space, or even its 1700hp power, this could very well be the supercar of the decade.
Ultimate performance, combined with ultimate luxury, has been mostly limited to the world of two-seaters as of now. Well, not anymore, Koenigsegg has stepped up crushing the taboo by unveiling its first-ever four-seater MegaGT car at the now-canceled Geneva International Motor Show.
“The idea started back in 2003… do I have to dilute the supercar-mega car idea if we have more seats…”- Christian von Koenigsegg.
The original idea behind the Gemera was the brainchild of the owner himself. Christian von Koenigsegg, founder and CEO, realized the need for a 4-seater and supercar as he didn’t want to sacrifice his need for speed in favor of having enough room to fit his whole family. Unfortunately, the technology available at the time prevented him from achieving his dream, but things changed a lot in the 17-ish last year, and it has finally arrived with a big bang.
Powering the front wheels is a 2L three-cylinders twin-turbocharged free valve internal combustion engine (ICE) producing 600bhp and a torque of 600Nm coupled with a 400 bhp and 500 Nm E-motor. The rear wheels, on the other hand, are powered by three 500 bhp and 1000 Nm each E-motor, producing a total combined output of 1700 bhp and 3500 Nm of torque… Not bad, right?
With such a monstrous power output, the Gemera achieves a 0-60mph in just 1.9 seconds. Yes, you heard right. 1.9 seconds!
And if that didn’t make you start drooling yet, the chassis houses a carbon fiber monocoque, front and rear aluminum sub-frames, adjustable anti-roll bars, and a robotized and hydraulically adjustable front and rear ride height. Say goodbye to speedbump problems!
Christian’s dream took shape thanks to the hands of Sasha Selipanov, who is considered a somewhat radical designer in the automotive industry. Its luxurious interior makeover showcases 11 speakers, front and rear 13″ central screens, a total of 8 cup holders, heated seats, reading lights, and all best in class features one can fathom.
Mega in all aspects, indeed.
