Ineos Releases Images of the Grenadier’s Utilitarian Interior

The Ineos Grenadier already impressed us with its retro and rugged exterior, but the simple cabin might be even better!

Ever since Ineos released pics of its upcoming truck’s exterior last July, the world went crazy in anticipation of the rugged 4X4. Now that we have the official pictures from inside the cabin, off-road enthusiasts couldn’t be happier with what Ineos did with the Grenadier.

Hardcore off-roaders believe that the fun of taking on the untravelled roads lies in the challenges and hardships that the path poses. Much to their dismay, recent off-roaders, like the Land Rover Defender, are way too posh and luxurious. But this is where the Grenadier steps in.

The model offers a refreshing switch from the intricately ornate SUVs, offering a very rugged and hardy interior that stands as the ultimate epitome of convenience and utility. Almost looking like the cockpit of an aircraft, the Grenadier’s interior swapped poshness for practicality and chose function over form.

In a time when an automaker’s biggest flex is replacing dials and knobs with touchscreen systems, Grenadier went with a simple and effective switch-heavy arrangement instead. Rugged switches and dials throughout the cabin are each dedicated to performing a specific function and the knobs are large enough to be easily operated while maneuvering on intricate off-road trails. Moreover, they are sufficiently far from each other, clearly labeled and designed to be turned using wet or gloved hands.

The distribution of the buttons is also praiseworthy. Ineos paid quite much attention to the common controls near the driver and the auxiliary ones in the top panel, much like an airplane cockpit. In addition, the controls are arranged in such a way that they are within everyone’s reach.

Meanwhile, a few unique and creative features also managed to sneak into the Grenadier cabin. For instance, a little red button on the right side of the two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, labeled as the “toot.” The button is programmed to function as a quieter and more subtle horn mainly aimed at cyclists and pedestrians. Also, the 12 o’clock mark on the steering wheel gives you a clear indication of how the wheels are turned—not vital but sure interesting to have.

Staying true to its off-road nature, the Grenadier comes with waterproof and stain-resistant Recaro upholstery. And the drain plugs beneath the footwells and the detachable rubber flooring give the 4×4 a genuine hose-it-out cabin.

Ineos will start taking reservations for the Grenadier next October, while the first samples are expected to arrive in July next year. The SUV should begin at around £40,000 (about $55,000) in the UK.
