E-Legend EL1

E-Legend EL1 is an 804 HP All-Electric Homage to the Original Audi Quattro

German startup E-Legend unveiled its first creation, the EL1, an all-electric homage to the iconic Audi Quattro S1 Group B rally car.

Looks-wise, the E-Legend walks a close line to the original. The signature bump on the hood, along with the three air vents, is reminiscent of the Ur-Quattro, whereas the grille’s black surround of the grille and the headlights give the front end a solid retromodern vibe. Flared wheel arches and the white five-spoke wheels (19inch front and 20inch back) pay respect to the original rally icon’s design. Lastly, at the back, a spoiler, LED taillights, and a giant rear diffuser complete the car’s striking and powerful looks.

Pictures of the interior show a minimal yet futuristic dash with a control-meets-infotainment screen and smaller screens on each side near the doors, showing rear-view footage—no more side mirrors here.

The E-Legend EL1’s internals is also a testament to how far technology has evolved in recent years. In place of the original Audi Quattro’s 2.1L inline-5 engine, the EL1 is powered by three electric motors, one mounted on the front axle and two on the rear, and a 90 kWh battery pack, producing 804 hp. According to Auto Motor Und Sport,  the EL1 also uses the same 800-volt technology as the Porsche Taycan as well as a sophisticated cooling system.

In terms of performance,  E-Legend claims its EL1 will run the 0-60mph sprint in under 2.8 secs, with a range of around 250 miles—enough to lap the Nürburgring twice, even in the most focused SportPlus driving mode. And since E-Legend sees the EL1 as a modern-day interpretation of the rally legend, the car is offered with features like electric torque vectoring for better handling as well as quick charging for the battery.

E-Legend plans to build only 30 units of the EL1, and each will be going for an estimated $1.19 million. The company hinted that other projects named EL2 and EL3 are also in the works, the first of which might be based on the Lancia Stratos HF Stradale.
