Rumors have it that the flagship Lexus LX 750h SUV would be on its way with a hybrid powertrain and a huge infotainment display.
According to the Japanese media outlet Creative Trend, two new LX models will hit the market as LX 600 and LX 750h. The entry-level LX 600 will carry a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing 410 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, the same unit used in the latest Toyota Land Cruiser.
On the other hand, the top-of-the-line LX 750h will be equipped with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 paired to a hybrid system delivering 480 horsepower and 642 lb-ft of torque. If rumors are to be believed, both the models would receive a 10-speed automatic transmission.
In Middle Eastern markets, the base variant will be known as the LX 500d, sporting the Land Cruiser’s turbodiesel 3.3-liter V6, good enough for 309 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
Even though the LX and Land Cruiser share the same TNGA-F architecture, the upscale Lexus will have a revamped, luxurious, and technologically advanced cabin. For instance, the infotainment system will be carried over from the 2022 NX but with an even bigger 17-inch high-resolution display.
Interestingly, the Japanese Land Cruiser and LX models are confirmed to arrive with a fingerprint recognition system on the engine start button as an additional security measure. It is being implemented keeping in mind the country’s high vehicle theft rate. However, it is still unknown if the American model will receive the same feature or not.
While the latest-gen Toyota Land Cruiser did not reach American shores, its plush and hi-tech LX sibling will perfectly take its place. Lexus will start taking orders for the LX750h and LX 600 from September and should launch in December. Unfortunately, there is still no information regarding the American variant’s price or availability at the moment.
More details are expected in the coming months.
