After only a few months on the market, the highly capable Navara Pro-4X off-roader is getting a Warrior variant, which Nissan claims to be the world’s toughest Navara yet.
Nissan has once again teamed up with the renowned Australian engineering firm Premcar to build the 2021 Navara Pro-4X Warrior. Premcar’s collaboration with the Japanese manufacturer began in 2019 when the two collaborated to produce the well-received 1400-unit Navara N-Trek Warrior. Now, the new Warrior will be developed as a part of Nissan’s Warrior Program, which will see 35 Premcar engineers, manufacturing specialists, and executives work on building “a dual-cab Ute,” capable of overcoming rugged and exhilarating Australian terrains without sacrificing comfort or utility.
Details on the Navara Pro-4X Warrior are scarce at the moment, but teasers released by the company offer a better picture of what is in the works. In terms of design, the new Warrior is largely comparable to the previous generation, with a few tweaks for a more rugged appearance. It retains the previous version’s hoopless, metal front bullbar but now has an integrated LED light bar and an additional underbody skid plate.
The fender flares have been significantly widened, and the vehicle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in beefy 32-inch Cooper all-terrain tires. A tuned suspension setup also appears to be part of the upgrade for improved off-road clearance, so expect the ride height to be up by 30mm to 40mm.
We did not receive any interior shots as of yet, but Nissan did confirm some cabin features. The new Warrior will come well-equipped with standard features from the previous model, including a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support and leather-accented seats, as well as standard driver-assist and safety technology such as Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking and seven airbags.
We highly doubt there will be any powertrain upgrade. The vehicle should carry over the 2.3-liter twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine producing 187hp and 332lb-ft of torque.
According to Nissan, the upcoming Navara Pro-4X Warrior is currently in the last phase of testing. Expect it to debut as an Australia-only model in the third quarter of this year.
More details to come.
