Iconic American brand Airstream introduces the Interstate 24X, a B-class luxury compact home on wheels.
After a year of living with restrictions due to the pandemic, people now want to explore and get outside more than ever before. So naturally, companies famous for building motorhomes don’t want to miss this opportunity, and Airstream is no exception here.
The new Airstream Interstate 24X is based on the Mercedes Sprinter 3500, powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel engine producing 188 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. The power goes to all four wheels through a seven-speed transmission, allowing the Airstream Interstate 24X to pull up to 5,000 lbs.
Airstream has equipped the RV with large wheels and all-terrain tires to tackle bumpy paths and extreme weather conditions with ease. It also features impressive 4×4 capabilities and sturdy protective cladding to the vehicle’s bumpers, sides, and wheels (saw those super sturdy wheel caps?). The manufacturer is so confident about its new off-road-oriented camper that it claims it’s the most rugged touring coach ever to hit the road!
The Airstream Interstate 24X RV has a 24-ft-long living area providing seats for six passengers. Moreover, the kitchen area has a beautiful countertop along with a sink and two-burner cooktop. It also comes with other essential amenities including a microwave, a refrigerator, and a freezer. Worth mentioning, while it can seat 6 people, it only has enough room for two adults to spend the night comfortably. However, a neat trick would be to install a roof tent on that thing for extra sleeping space.
The Interstate 24X even has its own 2.5kW Cummins Onan power generator with remote and auto-start functionality. Furthermore, the RV’s Advanced Power System consists of two 100 Ah deep cycle lithium Battle Born batteries, a 30 Amp energy management system, and a 2,000 Watt power inverter. 300W flexible solar panels are also used to recharge the camper batteries, and 100 Watt panels are in place for the chassis battery.
An outdoor camping trip can never be complete without music, so Airstream added a Resonado speaker system for a crisp and crystal clear audio experience. Also, a 13,500 BTU air conditioner will keep the camper cool when the Sun soars.
A large 42-inch LED light bar above the windshield will ensure you can see in front of you when driving in a trail a night. And thanks to the Aluminum Aircraft L-Track Storage System on the walls, ceiling, and floor, you can hang or tie down your mountain bikes, kayaks, paddleboards, surfboards—whatever makes you happy!
The Airstream Interstate 24X provides an impressive camping experience complemented with optimum convenience. However, luxury doesn’t come cheap, as the 24X starts at $213,850. If you are still interested, orders are currently open.
