Through its new bespoke division called Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the German carmaker intends to offer a greater range of personalization for its most discerning customers.
With an expanded range of products and services, Porsche plans to adapt even better to the specific needs of its customers, including different options for customizing its sports cars beyond your wildest dreams, even turning them into true one-of-a-kinds.
Worth mentioning, Porsche has been offering various levels of customization since the seventies through the Sonderwunsch (special wish) program. Customization choices for new vehicles currently vary from personal guidance during the configuration process to the production of small limited series.
During the ordering process, customers currently have plenty of options, from the vehicle’s color to materials for the cabin’s upholstery. Also, the Porsche Car Configurator allows customers to become “designers” of their vehicles. Clients can select personalized style elements such as badges, symbols, and even texts on the armrest.
Nonetheless, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur will push the bar even higher, increasing the degree of customization with the help of constant feedback from customers.
If a customer requests a very specific or one-off mod, Porsche’s will check the viability of the model, cost, and time taken to complete the process. Moreover, the company will make sure the cars are still street legal.
“We want to take our individualization program one, two, or three steps further in two main dimensions. The first main dimension is customer interaction. We want to make customers part of our project team; they’re the boss,” said Porsche’s head of individualization and classic, Alexander Fabig.
Porsche also provides a variety of ancillary items and retrofit solutions for individual customer vehicles through the Tequipment program, primarily concentrating on the availability of replacement parts and factory restoration work in the classic vehicle market.
For both young and older classic vehicles, Porsche Classic will deliver modern technologies with a historical reference, performance-enhancing components, and lifestyle items. These upgrades will boost the efficiency of vintage cars or make them more usable in the modern world.
Porsche will keep track of all the vehicles under the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur program at the Porsche Museum. The firm will undertake six requests from customers during the current year and expects to deliver them before Christmas.
