The production 2023 Lyriq retains many of the concept’s styling while also packing 300+ miles of range and costing $59.990.
Cadillac’s plans to switch to sustainable electric energy are not any secret, as the company inches towards a zero-emission lineup. The premium brand will start the electrification onslaught with the Lyriq crossover, which will be built on GM’s BEV3 electric architecture with the Ultium Platform battery tech. Cadillac first revealed the Lyriq last August and promised a production model by the end of 2022 or early 2023. However, now it moves up the release to mid-2022.
The production version of the 2023 Lyriq has the same new vertical lighting and the pseudo grille setup with strip lights in the front and rear as the concept. The changes include slightly smaller wheels, a conventional door setup, some extra cup holders, and a two-row, five-seats setup instead of the four-seats shown in the concept.
Cadillac has also confirmed the silverish Satin Steel paint and a Stellar Black Metallic paint for the production Lyriq. Meanwhile, the interior comes in either Sky Cool Grey or Noir, with the color on the pictures, Juniper, coming out later.
There will also be a host of driver-assist technologies onboard, with the new Super Cruise making its way onto the EV. Active noise cancellation and KeyPass digital vehicle access will also be part of the 2023 Lyriq SUV. However, the biggest takeaway from the cabin is the mammoth 33-inch diagonal advanced LED display with a 19-speaker AKG Studio audio system, which also includes headrest speakers. Moreover, customers can choose between 20-inch alloy wheels and optional 22-inch Reverse Rim alloys.
Initially, the 2023 Lyriq will come with an RWD version with only one electric motor of 340 HP and 325 lb-ft of torque. However, Cadillac plans an AWD version shortly. Equipped with a 100-kWh Ultium battery pack, the SUV can cover 300 miles on one charge. The result is pretty good, but far from the range of the Tesla Model X.
A standard 19.2-kW onboard charger can fill the battery for around 52 miles of range each hour. Nonetheless, Cadillac will also include a 150-kWh DC fast charging, which can fill up to 76 miles of range in 10 minutes.
Cadillac has confirmed that the production 2023 Lyriq will be built in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Interested customers can start making reservations in September. The starting price of the 2023 Lyriq SUV is $59,990, but options will probably quickly add to the cost.
