If you own a BMW E60 5 Series (2003-2010), you can now add the new gaping grille to the Bangle-designed curves, courtesy of a Chinese aftermarket brand.
Taobao, an e-commerce website from China, sells the M2 grille at 1800 yuan and the bigger M5 grille at 2500 yuan ($275 and $382, respectively, according to the currency conversion rate). However, it’s essential to highlight that these are not even close to the German automaker’s quality standards.
Through the pictures provided by the seller, one can easily judge that the aftermarket bumper looks rather cheap. With loose fittings along the sides and large panel gaps, the front design just takes the classic-looking BMW design to extreme lows.
Aftermarket products should elevate cars’ design and functionality, but this doesn’t seem to do the job. The China-based company even pitched the product saying that it would make your old 5 Series look like a modern-day M-badged BMW. Though in reality, it makes the whole car look like a cheap knock-off.
The E60 M5 is already a famous car among BMW aficionados, thanks to the stunning naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V10 screamer producing 507 PS. Don’t forget these figures are more than a decade old but still leave us awestruck and therefore, these cars still have a considerable market value. On the contrary, fitting one of these cheaply designed products would just depreciate your car’s value.
We personally think that the M5 is already dope enough in stock form, and swapping these grilles would just be a big disrespect towards BMW’s timeless classic design language.
