The supercharger whine gives us lots to be happy about!
Walkinshaw will offer the Silverado in two trims — Fury 1 and Fury 2. Apart from the tuned engine present in both trims, the Fury 1 comes with 18-inch wheels covered in Goodyear tires, Walkinshaw’s own performance exhaust system, and a two-inch lift. The Fury 1 trim level also has a lot of chrome badging on the sides with numerous Fury decals and emblems.
The second trim, Fury 2, has a bigger set of 20-inch wheels as well as an upgraded braking system featuring six-piston calipers and beefier front rotors. This trim is expected to be the favorite for roadgoing purposes as the 285/60 rubber will perform better on asphalt than off the beaten paths.
That being said, the powertrain is the main highlight of Walkinshaw’s Chevy Silverado. In the audio teaser released on Instagram, we can hear the distinct sound of a supercharged V8. The engine powering this beast is a 6.2L V8 pumping out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque from the factory, but with the supercharger kit made by Walkinshaw, it is expected that the engine will produce up to 670 HP and 620 lb-ft of torque at its peak.
This jump in power is massive for a vehicle in this segment, and this could take the company’s version of the Silverado and pit it against higher level challengers. The Silverado is an imposing vehicle even in stock form, and with the help of this newfound power, it promises to offer an excellent on-and off-roading experience.
The Walkinshaw treatment for the Chevy Silverado will be available in the first quarter of 2021.
