The collaboration between Porsche and Puma will be available globally but in very, very limited numbers.
Bavarian sports car maker Porsche is quite renowned for making luxury goods beyond cars. Along with its iconic automobiles, Porsche Design is one of the most popular niche brands selling high-end luxury items like luggage, accessories, pens, and timepieces.
To celebrate 45 years of Porsche’s legendary sports car, the 911 Turbo, two German brands joined forces, releasing a line of limited edition 911-inspired shoes. The Puma x Porsche shoes will feature distinct design elements transferred from the iconic 911 models.
Puma’s new line-up kicks in with the 1970s-themed Future Rider, paying respect to air-cooled generations of the 911 Turbo, starting with the 930. The Speedcat, a sportier-looking shoe, was chosen to represent the 911 Turbos of the water-cooled era.
Furthermore, Puma and Porsche designers incorporated every generation’s significant design trait of various 911 Turbos to each shoe model and variation. The iconic Riviera Blue, Guards Red, Saffron Yellow Metallic, and GT Silver Metallic colors have been used for the shoes as a homage to some of the most beloved color schemes at the time and even today.
Also taken into account are some of the model’s iconic wheel designs and color schemes. For example, the 996-inspired shoe is in two silver shades while the red accents mirror the red brake calipers. Each Puma shoe will feature Porsche’s crest, a final touch completing the design.
Porsche-Puma will be producing just 500 units globally across all sizes. Prices start from $150 and will be sold online and offline in select Puma and Porsche Design stores in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, as well as Porsche Experience Centers in Atlanta and Los Angeles. Porsche has also included an Easter egg in its website where it prompts the user to order his pair of shoes within a 2.7-second window — same as the 0-60 mph acceleration time of the current 911 Turbo.
