The Italian grand tourer is returning to the US with a special 75th-anniversary edition, but only 50 units will be made available.
After a significant absence from Maserati’s lineup, the GranTurismo returns with a thrilling revival. Sporting an all-new engine and platform, the ICE variants now boast the impressive Nettuno V6, first introduced in the MC20. Moreover, the GranTurismo Folgore breaks new ground for Maserati as their first-ever fully electric vehicle.
But that’s not all—the Italian automaker is also commemorating its 75th anniversary with an exclusive version, the GranTurismo PrimaSerie. Available in Trofeo and Folgore trims, the PrimaSerie embraces even higher levels of luxury and prestige. While the availability of the Folgore in the US remains uncertain, it’s worth noting that only 50 of these limited-edition models will be arriving in North America, each offering extensive customization options.
While the configuration process for the PrimaSeries is pretty similar to the regular GranTurismo, you do get 75th-anniversary badges all around and more color options. For instance, the ICE-powered Trofeo is offered in Matte Grigio Lamiera with red accents or Nero Cometa with mint green highlights, while customers interested in the electric Folgore will be able to choose between Copper Glace or Blu Inchiostro.
Inside, more color schemes separate the ICE from the EV. While both cabins are mostly black, the Trofeo gets red or mint green stitching, while the Folgore gets tan or blue Mondrian, matching the body color — and of course, you’ll get “75th anniversary” logos embroidered on the headrests.
In the powertrain department, the Trofeo gets a detuned version of the MC20’s 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 542hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic sending all that power to both axles, good enough for a 0-60 sprint in only 3.5 seconds.
Price-wise, the PrimaSerie is still a mystery. But considering the regular Trofeo already costs just over $200,000, expect the limited-edition version to cost even more.
