2023 Porsche Celebrates America with its Latest 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet Edition

Porsche celebrates 70 years since the release of the 356 America Roadster by unveiling a new open-top in 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition.

The last time Porsche released an America-specific model, the 964 America Roadster, was back in 1992 for the 40th anniversary. The latest homage, the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America, features a high-performance chassis and powertrain.

Notably, the roadster features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six, which gained an extra 30 HP and 30 lb-ft of torque, bringing the numbers to 473 hp and 420 lb-ft. The power goes through the rear wheels via an enthusiast-approved 7-speed manual transmission. As a result, the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America makes the 0-60 sprint in 4.1 seconds.

The special edition also features the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) Sport with lowered ride height and additional helper springs on the rear axle. Moreover, the stick-shift convertible is preloaded with standard Sports Exhaust and Sport Chrono Package along with six and four-piston brakes at the front and rear, respectively. Meanwhile, rear-axle steering and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are available at an added cost.

The 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition will be exclusively available in Azureblue365 color inspired by the 356 American Roadster.

Furthermore, the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur designed the sports car to showcase its American appeal with RS Spyder wheels that feature a white, silver, and guards red pinstripe.

Similarly, the interior includes black as the base color with red, blue, and white accents. Porsche also included a dual-colored ‘911 Carrera GTS’ badge and doorsills embossed with “1952, 1992, and 2022” commemorating the 70 years of the “America” roadster.

If that still doesn’t cut it for you, consider opting for the Extended Interior Package at an extra cost of $7510, consisting of 12’o clock marking on the steering wheel and cross-stitching. In addition, Sports Seat Plus with 911 stitched headrests, a red gear pattern, two-tone floor mats, and red leather backrest release loops are also offered in the package.

The American edition will reach US dealers by the end of this year at a base price of $186,370 (excluding a $1,450 destination fee), $35,420 more than the base 911 GTS Cabriolet. Porsche has termed this limited edition a spiritual successor to the previous models and promises to be an American dream.

Since the GTS Cabriolet America is a limited edition, Porsche will produce only 115 units — 100 destined for the US and the rest 15 for Canada.
