Kia launched a facelifted 2022 Telluride with an updated front grille sporting the brand’s new logo but not much else…
Awarded as the World Car of the Year in 2020, the Kia Telluride has been an immensely popular three-row crossover vehicle in the US. So why change what’s already working, right? That seems to have been Kia’s plan here.
Indeed, the first images of the new 2022 Telluride show the new, darker mesh grille, along with Kia’s all-new logo. But, apart from that, pretty much everything else is similar to the 2021 model.
However, that’s not a bad thing. The front fascia still looks quite bold and masculine, with a grille surrounded by chrome and a silver skid plate on the lower part of the bumper. The square-shaped headlights also remain the same.
The SUV looks pretty wide from the rear, with L-shaped brake lights contributing to the wider-looking stance. The all-new Kia logo sits right above the Telluride badging, and the bumper also features a matching silver skid plate. Furthermore, the exhaust system has dual exhaust tips, both on the right-hand side. It doesn’t exactly look bad, but we think a more balanced placement of the exhaust tips on either side would have looked better.
The powertrain is also the same as the 2021 model; a 3.8-liter naturally-aspirated V6 engine producing 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque.
The most significant changes in the 2022 Telluride, apart from the front grill, are inside the cabin. While the design remains the same, more features now come standard across the entire lineup. Notably, the bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system now comes in every trim, including the base LX and mid-range S.
Moreover, every Telluride model now comes with a navigation-based adaptive cruise control system. Earlier, it was only available on the SX and higher variants. Other features include an automatic climate control system and the brand’s highway driving assist.
One of the biggest reasons the Kia Telluride has been one of the most loved three-seater crossovers is its reasonable pricing. Keeping in mind the luxury and comfort on offer, the 2022 Telluride carries a fair price tag, with the entry-level model starting at only $34,015.
The facelifted model will hit the dealerships later this year. We’ll keep you posted!
