Range Rover unveiled its 2021 Velar with new tech features and powertrain options!
The Range Rover Velar P400e hybrid variant will carry a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine coupled with a 105-kW electric motor. The output of this combination is estimated to produce around 398 hp, 472-lb-ft of torque, and travel approximately 33 miles on electricity alone, thanks to the 17.1kWh lithium-ion battery.
With such a power output, this mid-sized SUV can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 5.1 seconds. Not bad, right?

Land Rover has been busy updating its fleet for the 2021 model year. Much attention is now being put on the engine offerings, hybrids variant, and tech options.
So far, the British car manufacturer has already revealed updated versions for some of its core models like the Range Rover, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Sport, and now the Range Rover Velar.
The Velar’s battery is located below the SUV’s floor and can be charged up to 80 percent in a mere half an hour, given the process is carried out using a fast DC charging point.
The automaker hasn’t announced the engine options available for the US-bound Range Rover Velar yet, though the V6 present in the current model might be replaced in the US with its new 3.0-liter straight-six engines.
Talking about the interiors, the Range Rover Velar will be equipped with the company’s new Pivi and Pivi Pro infotainment system. The design and user interface of the infotainment system has been kept simplistic and, for the first time, will also have Spotify integrated into it. This would be accompanied by a wearable “Activity Key,” an air filtration system, and a reworked design of the steering wheel. Additionally, a gear selector has replaced the controversial rotary gear selector.

Elsewhere, Land Rover would have its 3.0-liter straight-six Ingenium engines added to the upcoming fleet of the Range Rover Velar. In terms of output, the diesel-powered D300 engine produces 296 hp and a torque of 479 lb-ft, whereas the gasoline-powered P400 variant has a horsepower rating of 394 along with 404 lb-ft of torque. These engines will be available with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
The Range Rover Velar might not be the company’s first step into the plug-in hybrid domain, but the overall specs of the SUV still make it an interesting buy.
