After giving the Discovery Sport updated aesthetics for last year’s model, Land Rover now brings even more updates for 2021.
For 2021, Land Rover has given its Discovery Sport some major tech updates, but also a much-needed trim level reorganization.
The Discovery Sport gets Land Rover’s new “Pivi Pro” infotainment system as standard across all trims. The system which debuted on the new Defender boasts a new structure consisting of 85 ECUs supporting all of the vehicle’s electrical features. The electrical updates also include two Qualcomm LTE modems, one for over-the-air updates and another for applications.
The new Pivi Pro infotainment system accounts for substantial improvement in response times and makes customers’ user experience more comfortable by displaying a modern smartphone’s intuitiveness. Moreover, the system integrates Spotify, comes with a data plan for internet access, and can also connect two devices via Bluetooth.
The 2021 model also gets a host of safety equipment, including traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, driver condition monitor, and a 3D surround camera at speeds up to 19 mph.
Like various other carmakers, Land Rover is now offering an optional 2.5 microns cabin filtration system reducing foreign particles entering the cabin.
Regarding the new trim structure, the British manufacturer has ditched the base and the range-topping R-Dynamic HSE models for the 2021 line-up. The Discovery now starts at $41,900 for the Sport S model, which is $400 more than the 2020 Sport S. From the 2021 line-up, the R-Dynamic SE will sit at the top of the range. Starting at $46,950, it costs $800 more than the previous year.
