Triumph Launches Rocket 3 R Black and GT Triple Black Limited Edition

True to their names, Triumph Rocket 3 R Black and Triumph GT Triple Black come with an all-black paint scheme with blacked-out parts, for a truly sinister look.

With the Triumph Rocket 3R Black, customers get a single-tone black finish, while the Triumph Rocket 3 GT Triple Black sports three distinct shades of black, justifying the ‘Triple Black’ moniker. The Rocket 3R Black is painted in matt and gloss black finish, highlighting a matte black fuel tank with gloss black racing stripe and a new ‘Black’ tag on top. Meanwhile, the Rocket 3 GT Triple Black gets a boldly designed fuel tank finished in eye-catchy three-shade black paint. Both versions get a black-out engine cover, exhaust headers, heat shields, end caps, and a crinkle black powder-coated intake cover.

The all-black paint scheme also applies to a range of components, including mudguard mounts, radiator cowls, headlamp bezels, fly screen finishers, and badging. A long list of black anodized components consisting of handlebar clamps, brake and gear pedals, fork lowers, footpeg risers, yokes, rider footrests, pillion footrests, heel guards and hangers further enhance the dark and moody appearance of the bikes.

Furthermore, black anodized bits include brake and clutch lever, swing arm guard, rear-frame forgings, side stand, RSU rocker, and machine-detailed bar-end mirrors. In addition, a carbon-fiber front mudguard is also available as a special standard fitment for both versions.

Besides enhancing visual appeal, Triumph has not made any mechanical or technical changes to these motorcycles. Both limited-editions pack the same 167 hp 2,500cc in-line triple liquid-cooled engine, the largest engine used on a mass-produced motorcycle in the world. The engine mated with a six-speed gearbox is good enough for a 0-60 sprint in just 2.73 seconds. Not bad, right?

Moreover, the suspension package is also kept the same as the regular Rocket 3, meaning both motorcycles are fitted with Showa 47mm inverted forks on the front, while the rear end sees a fully adjustable Showa mono-shock with a piggyback reservoir. Braking duties are handled by Brembo’s Stylema radial monobloc calipers with twin 320mm discs at the front and Brembo monobloc 4-piston caliper with a single 300mm disc at the rear.

Interestingly, customers buying any of the limited edition Rocket 3 versions will receive an authenticity certificate containing the motorcycles’ unique VIN. Limited to just 1000 units, these motorcycles are priced at £21,000 for the Rocket 3 R Black and £21,700 for the 3 GT Triple Black. Deliveries should start sometime around mid-April this year.
