Toyota Reveals 2022 Tundra TRD Pro Early After Leaks Surfaced

Following unofficial leaks online, Toyota reveals its brand new 2022 Tundra TRD Pro to the public.

The third-generation Toyota Tundra has created a lot of heat in the automotive world. Recently, various leaked images and spy photos of the highly anticipated pickup have surfaced online. However, instead of staying quiet, the Japanese automotive giant silenced the leakers and officially unveiled its brand new Tundra.

As seen in the image, the 2022 Tundra TRD Pro got quite a facelift. The front fascia now boasts new LED lights and an auxiliary light bar in the middle. However, the real star of the show is the new massive, and quite masculine, front grille with a bold Toyota logo, in classic American pickup truck fashion.

Thanks to the leaked images, we also know that the tailgate features the TRD Pro branding and taillights comprising two vertical red lines. Moreover, the truck sits on massive black TRD Pro-specific wheels wrapped in highly durable 285/65 Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires.

Under the hood, the 2022 Tundra TRD Pro is expected to pack a  twin-turbocharged V6 engine producing 450 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, while a 10-speed automatic transfers that power to all four wheels. The company also hinted that the new Tundra might get some form of hybrid assistance. The iForce Max engine teased by Toyota earlier this week points in a similar direction. Other enhancements include a modified rear suspension setup replacing the leaf springs with coil springs. Toyota might even have developed a fully independent suspension for this off-road beast.

Details on the interior are scarce. However, the truck is expected to feature comfortable seats, a power steering wheel, and the latest connectivity features, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Not to forget, the Tundra’s massive cargo bed can fit two motocrosses with ease.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is expected to start at $36,000, while the Pro trim might cost over $50,000. That being said, that’s pretty much all we know about the upcoming truck. However, Toyota should unveil the new Tundra soon since it’s supposed to start selling before the end of the year.

To be continued.
