AC Cobra Series 4

AC Cobra Series 4 is an All-electric Sports Car with 617 HP

AC unveiled a new fully-electric version of its iconic Cobra.

The 119-year old company has an extensive and glorious history manufacturing sports cars, the most notable of which is the original Shelby Cobra. The iconic 1960s sports car was built and designed by AC Cars at its facility in Surrey, England as AC Ace and later modified by Carroll Shelby, who gave the roadster worldwide recognition.

Fast-forward to 2020, AC Cars just launched its fully-electric Cobra Series 4. Unveiled in a stunning Electric Orange shade with dual black stripes, the new Cobra packs quite a punch at 617 horsepower and 738 ft-lb of torque. The Cobra owes these astonishing numbers to the new powertrain supplier, Falcon Electric.

The new motor can launch the Cobra Series 4 from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, but by far, the most impressive number about the Series 4 is its weight.  At less than 2,623 pounds of gross weight, this sports car is virtually weightless. For a bit of perspective, the Tesla Model S can weigh up to nearly 5,000 pounds. Having said that, the electric version weighs around 200 lb more than its V8-powered sibling. And even better, AC has fitted the Series 4 with a 54 kWh battery pack estimated to last for over 200 miles on a fully charged battery. Not bad.

Apart from the in-your-face Electric Orange, AC will sell you the Series 4 in 14 other paint options, with contrasting dual stripes as an optional extra. It just would not be a proper Cobra without them. Speaking of a proper Cobra, the famous Ford V8 sure left way to the new electric version, perfect for folks who want a Cobra while being as eco-friendly as possible. The thundering V8 will surely be missed, though.

AC will sell the Series 4 for £168,000 (nearly $225,000), and deliveries will begin in summer 2021.
