With a price cut of over $20,000 and a new cargo van model, the 2025 Ram ProMaster EV is looking to shake up the commercial EV market.
The 2025 Ram ProMaster EV is getting some big updates, making it more affordable and more versatile than before. After launching as a step-van-only model in 2024, the all-electric cargo van is now available in multiple body styles, and with a lower price tag, it’s ready to take on competitors like the Ford E-Transit and Mercedes-Benz eSprinter.
One of the biggest changes for 2025 is the addition of 12- and 13-foot cargo van models, giving buyers more flexibility beyond the step van configuration. The starting price for the cargo van is $58,490 (including destination fees), making it $21,500 cheaper than the 2024 step-van model, which originally launched at nearly $80,000. Even the step van itself has gotten a price cut, now starting at $71,990—a drop of $8,000 compared to last year.
Performance-wise, all versions of the ProMaster EV are powered by a 110-kWh battery, which delivers 164 miles of combined range and up to 180 miles in city driving. This puts it ahead of the Ford E-Transit’s 159-mile range but behind the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter, which can reach up to 208 miles with its larger battery option. The ProMaster EV also boasts a 268-horsepower electric motor with 302 lb-ft of torque, making it more powerful than its rivals.
The cargo van version can handle up to 3,020 pounds of payload, while the step van—due to its heavier body—tops out at 2,876 pounds. Both models share the same 159-inch extended wheelbase, offering plenty of cargo space for businesses.
Ram has also added more standard features for 2025, making the ProMaster EV more competitive in the commercial van segment. The Safety & Convenience Group is now included, bringing advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and forward collision warning with emergency braking. A 360-degree camera system is available as an option. Inside, the van comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and SiriusXM 360L, along with standard manual air conditioning, LED headlights, a wireless phone charger, and a heated steering wheel.
Buyers can choose from just three colors: Bright White, Black, and Bright Silver Metallic. While the lack of color variety might not be a deal-breaker for fleet buyers, it does limit personalization options.
In terms of competition, the Ford E-Transit remains the best-selling electric van, with 12,610 units sold in 2024, while the Ram ProMaster lineup (gas + EV) saw 65,869 deliveries. The Mercedes-Benz eSprinter, meanwhile, struggled to gain traction, selling just 828 units last year.
With lower prices, more body styles, and competitive specs, the 2025 Ram ProMaster EV is shaping up to be a solid option for businesses looking to go electric. Orders are open now, and the van is expected to hit dealerships in the second quarter of 2025.
