New Tesla Model 3 ‘Highland’ Ready to Take Over the US Market by Storm

The car that saved Tesla from bankruptcy finally gets a proper refresh in the US.

Tesla’s updated Model 3, affectionately known as “Project Highland,” is finally hitting the roads in the United States, bringing with it a fresh new look and some neat tweaks under the hood. If you’ve been eyeing this electric beauty, here’s the lowdown on what’s new and exciting.

First off, let’s talk price. The standard rear-wheel-drive Model 3 will set you back about $38,990, while the Long Range all-wheel-drive version bumps the price up to $45,990. But hey, you get what you pay for, right?

Onto the design changes, the Model 3’s got a facelift with a sleeker hood and low-profile headlights. It’s also a tad longer and wider, giving it a more commanding presence on the road. And for those who appreciate the finer details, there are two new color options to choose from: stealth gray and ultra red.

Inside, Tesla’s done away with the physical shift lever and turn signal stalks. Everything’s now controlled via the touchscreen. Speaking of screens, there’s a new one in the back for your passengers to fiddle with, ensuring everyone gets a piece of the tech action.

But more than just about looks and gadgets, Tesla also focused on improving the ride. There’s updated suspension tuning for a smoother drive and the cabin’s quieter thanks to new acoustic glass and better soundproofing. Plus, ventilated front seats and customizable ambient lighting add a touch of luxury.

Performance-wise, the standard Model 3 can hit 0 to 60 mph in a respectable 5.8 seconds, topping out at 125 mph. The Long Range version shaves off some sprint time, clocking in at 4.2 seconds for the 0 to 60 dash but maintaining the same top speed. And for those counting miles, the rear-wheel model promises an EPA-estimated range of 272 miles, while the Long Range version can go up to 341 miles on a single charge. One point to consider: while the Model 3 has generally underperformed against its EPA range estimates in real-world use, the aerodynamic improvements in the 2024 model might help it go that extra mile. Or at least, that’s the hope.

However, it’s worth noting that the updated Model 3 isn’t currently eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit. But who knows? That might change in the future, so keep your fingers crossed.

Clearly, the new Model 3 is more than just a pretty face. It’s got the brains, brawn, and tech to keep both drivers and passengers happy. Whether you’re a Tesla fanatic or just dipping your toes into the EV pool, this Model 3 refresh might just be the push you need to go electric.
