2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Brings An All-New Design But Retains Its Stylish Charm

While maintaining the same overall silhouette, the new 2024 GLC Coupe is slightly bigger, classier and, let’s be honest, quite sexier.

Just last year, Mercedes-Benz revealed the latest generation of its best-selling model, the GLC-Class SUV. But while that model should arrive sometime this spring, the German automaker recently revealed something more exciting related to the compact SUV. Finally, the second generation GLC Coupe is here and will be sold as a 2024 model.

Now, from a distance, the new coupe SUV does seem awfully similar to the previous one. But actually, almost everything about the vehicle is brand new inside and 0ut. Even size-wise, the 2024 GLC Coupe is 1.2 inches longer, with its wheelbase also stretched by 0.6 inches from its predecessor’s. It may not seem like a significant increase, but it does result in slightly larger trunk space at 19.2 cubic feet (vs. 17.6 cubes from the first-gen).

Regarding styling, the changes are pretty much similar to its boxier counterpart. Despite having a familiar form to the old one, the latest-gen model now features a reshaped grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and classier-looking head and tail lights. Moreover, we’re a fan of the new crisp lines over the new fenders and the less hidden rear spoiler that’s more capable of reducing drag and adding downforce at the rear axle.

While Mercedes hasn’t been quite straightforward with the new GLC Coupe’s trims and pricing, what’s confirmed coming to the US is the GLC 300 4MATIC trim with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 boasting 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. This versatile engine is paired with a 48-volt hybrid system, adding another 12 hp and 148 lb-ft from its electric motor. Furthermore, with the 9-speed automatic and clever all-wheel-drive system, Mercedes claims the handsome SUV would go from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds and have a 130 mph top speed.

In addition, just like the regular new GLC, the Coupe too finally gets the revamped interior it deserves. Compared to its precursor, the new cockpit looks more refined and futuristic, especially with the presence of two screens from the latest MBUX system. These full-size MBUX displays are a part of the standard features in the entry-level model, along with the heated front seats, wireless charging pad, ambient lighting, and panoramic sunroof that’s 2.4 inches longer than the previous model.

In terms of comfort and practicality, there’s nothing to doubt here. The cabin is roomy and swamped with premium materials all around. And while you’ll need to compromise a little on the lack of second-row headroom and relaxed seating position compared to the non-coupe model, it’ll still be reasonably comfortable here inside the GLC Coupe. If anything, the slightly longer wheelbase should help give it more legroom at the back.

What’s more, while the new SUV surely has a bunch of Mercedes’ top-notch safety and driver assistant features, a new one worth highlighting is the off-road screen and ‘transparent hood’ feature accessible when selecting the Off-Road driving mode. These features are integrated into the standard Surround View 360-degree camera, enabling it to display obstacles like large rocks or deep potholes upfront and help you avoid them.

Unfortunately, Mercedes hasn’t announced the 2024 GLC Coupe pricing just yet. Considering the history, it may cost a few grand more than its non-coupe sibling, though. Guess we’ll just have to wait until it reaches dealerships later this year.
