Lamborghini Urus Performante is a 666-HP Super-SUV Straight from Hell

With more power, less weight, and an impressive design that boosts aerodynamics, the new Lamborghini Urus Performante is here to raise the bar for super SUVs.

With its immense popularity, the super SUV has become a magnet for wealthy customers. Since entering production in 2018, Lamborghini has sold more than 20,000 Urus units globally. Although the Urus didn’t need an upgrade to boost its sales, Lamborghini still wanted an answer to the 640-hp Cayenne Turbo GT and the 697-hp Aston Martin DBX707.

The result is a devilish SUV that packs 666 metric horsepower (657 hp) and a 627 lb-ft of torque from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. As a proof of concept, the super SUV has already broken a record; the Urus Performante is the fastest SUV to complete the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, climbing a distance of 14,115 ft in 10:32.064. Moreover, designed for performance and off-road adventure, the SUV also features an exciting RALLY mode that is perfect for a thrilling ride on dirt tracks.

But Lamborghini didn’t stop by only increasing power; the Urus Performante has also undergone a weight reduction. The SUV lost 104 pounds using carbon fittings, achieving a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio. The same carbon bits also improve aerodynamics and downforce — Lamborghini was thorough with the upgrade.

Up front, the SUV boasts a carbon fiber hood paired up with a new bumper design and cool grille to boost airflow. Meanwhile, the rear features an eye-catching spoiler that increases downforce by 38%. Carbon fiber dominates here, too, used for the bumper and diffuser. On top of that, the Akrapovic titanium sports exhaust further sheds weight while delivering “characteristic Lamborghini resonance.”

Apart from these changes, the Urus Performante sits 0.8 inches closer to the ground, thanks to the new steel springs. Moreover, the wheel arches boast forged 22-inches or optional 23-inches wheels with titanium bolts. As for the tires, Lamborghini went with the specially designed Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R.

The result of these upgrades is a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of just 3.3 seconds and a 190 mph (306 km/h) top speed — insane for a large family SUV!

Inside, the SUV showcases a sporty interior — classy black Alcantara seats adorn the cockpit while a leather sport steering wheel seals the deal. However, customers can choose other color options — the Urus Performante is highly customizable. And while other elements stay the same, the improved driver’s display graphics and infotainment system further improve the cabin.

“The Urus Performante takes the supreme performance and distinctive looks of Lamborghini’s ground-breaking super SUV to the next level,” comments Stephan Winklemann, the Chairman and CEO of Lamborghini. Starting at $260,676, the new Performante progeny is expected to account for half of the Urus sales.
