The 2023 Nissan Altima will come with the same powertrain configurations as before but gains better safety tech and improved infotainment on some models.
A few tech alterations, combined with some overall touchups, give you a sharper and sleeker-looking 2023 Nissan Altima. The facelift surely helps with the aesthetic — the sedan now features a more aggressive front fascia, new wheel designs, and two new exterior colors. However, the 2023 Altima doesn’t come with other improvements on the body — it’s purely a cosmetic thing.
Notably, the large V-motion grille adds a more defined sportier look, along with a redesigned Nissan logo branding. Although the headlight shape remains the same, a new bulb compensates for removing the lights from the lower duct, including the fog lights. The headlights now also feature LED DRLs for a more modern appearance. Meanwhile, the new colors are Gray Sky Pearl and Garnett Pearl Metallic.
Furthermore, the 2023 Nissan Altima will be available in eight grades: S FWD, SV FWD, SV AWD, SR FWD, SR AWD, SL FWD, SL AWD, and SR VC-Turbo FWD. Certain features and designs are exclusive to their respective trims; for example, out of the four new aluminum-alloy wheel designs, the Altima SV gets a 17-inch wheel, while the SR, SL, and SR VC-Turbo feature 19-inch wheel designs.
The 2023 Altima will retain the same powertrains, with a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder producing 188 hp and a 2.0-liter Variable Compression Turbo producing 248 hp. The latter is a better option if you are an enthusiast driver, as it also comes with a unique suspension tuning. Sadly, though, Nissan only offers it in front-wheel-drive form. If you want all-wheel-drive, you’ll need to opt for the underpowered entry-level engine. Another letdown might be Nissan’s Xtronic CVT, which is great for fuel efficiency, but not for performance or reliability.
Fortunately, the cabin got some useful upgrades, including a larger 12.3 touchscreen infotainment with new software and graphics available on select models. The system also supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and features Nissan’s Door-to-Door navigation.
The 2023 Altima is big on safety, too, with a standard Safety Shield 360. The package includes automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, automatic rear braking, lane departure warning, radar-based blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and high beam assist. If you opt for the SL or SR-VC Turbo models, though, you can get the ‘ProPILOT Assist’ system that keeps the Altima centered in the lane while also carrying out deceleration and acceleration duties.
The 2023 Nissan Altima will be available in dealerships statewide from this fall.
