Bentley Continental GT S Focuses on the Pleasure of Driving

The Continental GT S will pack the familiar 542 bhp V8 but add some chassis dynamics improvements to enhance the overall driving experience.

Bentley has always differentiated itself from Rolls-Royce by injecting some sportiness into their cars, and the newly-launched Continental GT S is a perfect example of that. Equipped to improve the “pleasure of driving,” the coupe and convertible S models will have pre-installed Bentley Dynamic Ride, a 48-volt electric active anti-roll control system aimed at minimizing body roll during cornering while retaining a smooth ride. The exterior, interior and dynamic system additions further ensure a better driving experience.

The Continental GT S range will pack a 542 bhp 4.0-liter V8, allowing it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and up to a 198-mph top speed. It also provides 568 lb-ft torque @ 2000- 4500 RPM, adding to its drivability. However, the GT S does not compromise fuel efficiency, with its combined fuel economy being 23.3 mpg, thanks to the cylinder shut-off tech.

The new S range will have a sharper look through the new 22” wheel available in Gloss Black and Pale Brodgar Satin. Moreover, the GT S will now have gloss black details instead of a chrome finish, except for the bright-chrome winged Bentley badge.

Crucially, you can choose to drive the Bentley Continental GT S in rear-wheel-drive-only mode, although AWD will engage if the rear wheels lose traction. Hence, it’s not a real RWD sports car, but regardless, the system should add to the excitement. Meanwhile, the car offers four driving modes: Comfort, Bentley, Custom, and Sport. Bentley also worked on the aural experience — the Continental GT S will come with a sonorous sports exhaust.

With over 80 exterior and a wide range of interior color options, Bentley allows its customers extreme personalization through its commissioning division, Mulliner. The cabin will have the ‘S’ badge on the treadplates, fascia, and headrests, and a new performance-focused graphics instrument panel. Furthermore, customers can opt for an exclusive two-tone color split and leather hide and Dina mica panels.

With rich interior and sharp exterior details, a roaring exhaust system, and a focus on the driver experience, the Bentley Continental S will certainly entice buyers, despite its $220,000 starting price.
