DMC Pushes the Ferrari 296 GTB “Squalo” Hybrid to 888 HP

Dusseldorf-based tuner, DMC, laid its hands on the Ferrari 296 GTB, extracting 888 HP from the hybrid, and fitting it with many other goodies!

DMC is a specialized German tuner with a handful of creations under its belt involving Porsches, Mercedes-Benzes, and Lamborghinis. Notably, the brand became an instant hit after showcasing the striking ‘Molto Veloce’ edition of the Aventador in 2012. In an effort to be impartial, DMC also took on Ferrari’s hybrid supercar, the 296 GTB.

The 296 GTB marked a significant change in the Modena outlet by introducing a brand-new hybrid engine layout. It comprises a 3.0-liter twin-turbo 120° V6 combined with an MGU-K and a single electric motor (167 hp) to generate a mighty 818 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, it comes with an 8-speed F1-inspired DCT for super-quick shifts.

However, DMC decided it wasn’t enough and chose to go the extra mile. Firstly, it bumped up the power to a sweet figure of 888 hp via an engine tune. Notably, it fitted the GTB Squalo with an updated electronic control module, altering the ignition and injection and boosting the turbo. The change allows it to sprint from 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds, 0-124 mph in 7.4 seconds, and reach a top speed of 192 mph!

DMC also equipped the Ferrari 296 GTB Squalo with a shark-inspired aero package. The front-end retains the classic Ferrari design with a turtle-snap-like bumper and carbon fiber lip sections below for higher downforce.

Manufactured using lightweight and high-performance CF parts, the add-ons accentuate the sportiness; the side skirts attach to the car’s existing body panels and give it a lower stance, while the rear features an inverted airplane wing and lip to aid in downforce. Customers also can choose between 21-inch and 22-inch forged alloys from PUR Wheels to top off the overall design.

Other enhancements include the fitment of DMC Sport springs that stiffens the suspension set-up and lowers the 296 GTB Squalo by 35 mm for a better feel. Meanwhile, the interior uses a combination of leather and Alcantara, but customers can also personalize using other exotic materials.

Prices are yet to be disclosed, though you could opt for a 3D digital NFT online if the real deal is out of budget (most likely)!
