The Hyundai Seven concept previews an all-electric family crossover with a stunning futuristic design and an innovative interior.
With the recent events surrounding the barrage of natural calamities and the pandemic, several industries have pledged to invest in more sustainable technologies, striving to become carbon-neutral between 2040 and 2050, including Hyundai itself. Since 2019, the Korean carmaker unveiled a slew of concept prototypes such as the 45 and the Prophecy, which eventually grew into the Ioniq 5 and the Ionic 6 (soon). However, perhaps the most interesting model thus far is the Hyundai Seven concept, previewing the Ioniq 7.
Of course, a few things that spring to mind with the mention of a 7-seater car are either mainstream, too big, and/or lack of differentiation. Fortunately, though, Hyundai managed to add a pinch of zing and excitement with some clever innovations and tech on board.

First up, the concept sits on the new e-GMP (Global Modular Platform) designed for EVs. The platform’s low-mounted battery floor allows for flexible placement of wheels depending upon the application. For the Seven concept, Hyundai spaced the wheels 3.2 m away from each other, falling just shy of current luxury limousines!
This fresh configuration gave the manufacturer the flexibility to challenge the traditional row seating format. Notably, the Seven concept features swiveling chairs and a curved bench seat, creating an area that resembles a lounge area.
Aiming to make the Seven concept more sustainable, Hyundai used eco-friendly materials such as mineral plaster, bamboo wood and carpets, and bio-resin. Moreover, Hyundai the Hygiene Airflow system and sterilizing UVC lights minimize bacteria and viruses. Other highlights on the car include a mini-fridge, shoe-care compartment, all-vision roof, and a retractable driving stalk (FSD – full self-driving).
Meanwhile, Hyundai kept things simplistic and future-proof with the exterior styling. However, many details stand out; for instance, the front pixelated LED light array looks quite futuristic while also creating a faux radiator grille. Particularly, it resembles old-school calculator displays yet simultaneously finds its place in a futuristic sci-fi setting. Perhaps the reason why the company coined the description as the ‘Parametric Pixels’!

Over to its sides, the Ioniq follows a super clean design language with the roofline flowing in a gentle curve. At the same time, its bodyline tapers around the frameless doors and converges to a single sheet of glass at the rear.
“The SEVEN concept demonstrates Hyundai’s creative vision and advances technological development of our electric mobility future. Its innovative interior space, eco-friendly powertrain, and cutting-edge safety and convenience technologies reveal an exciting future for Hyundai SUV customers”, said Jose Munoz, President and CEO of Hyundai North America.
Besides the SUV, Hyundai also demonstrated the technology behind its XCENT Hydrogen fuel cell trucks, of which 46 are currently operational in Switzerland. The company’s electric crossover, the Ioniq 5, also made its dynamic debut at the AutoMobilty event!
The future is exciting!
