INFINITI revealed everything about the much-awaited 2022 QX60 crossover, expected to hit the American market this fall.
At first glance, the 2022 QX60 SUV borrows a lot from traditional Japanese elements. For instance, the revamped front fascia incorporates a double-arched grille reminiscent of origami, and the narrow LED headlights took clear design cues from kimonos (we don’t really see this last one but that’s what the manufacturer’s claim).
The presentational 2022 Infiniti QX60 wears a Moonbow Blue paint depicting the sky at dusk, blending perfectly with the brand’s first-ever black roof. Moreover, according to INFINITI’s Head of Design, Taisuke Nakamura, this paint can shift from purple to green when viewed under favorable lighting conditions.
Next up, the cabin houses a 12.3-inch infotainment screen at the top of the center console. Of course, as seen in pretty much every high-end SUV these days, the infotainment software provides seamless connectivity options, including USB-based Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. A 10.8-inch head-up display shows crucial information, while a wireless charging pad and a 17-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system complete the setup.
INFINITI chose to present the new QX60 with the interior decorated in Saddle Brown semi-aniline leather with contrasting double stitch patterns. Furthermore, Zero Gravity heated front seats are designed for optimum comfort, and the built-in massager will help you release stress on the go. The 2022 Infiniti QX60 can accommodate seven occupants, and the third row can easily be accessed by tilting and shifting the second-row seats, even when a child safety seat is on it. Meanwhile, if you are an overlanding or camping enthusiast, you’ll be happy to hear that the second and third-row seats can be folded for a 75.4 cubic feet cargo space, and the SUV can now tow up to 6,000 lbs. with the proper equipment.
Under the hood of the 2022 QX60 lies a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. And luckily, INFINITI has chosen a nine-speed automatic transmission instead of the CVT, sending power to the front wheels or all four as an option.
“We focused on creating a serene environment inside that’s beautiful and practical, packed with new INFINITI IQ technology. In so many ways, the all-new QX60 is not just spacious, but stunning, and smart,” said INFINITI Global Head of Product Strategy Eric Rigaux.
The 2022 Infiniti QX60 doesn’t disappoint in terms of security and passenger safety either. The ProPILOT Assist and Navi Link combined take things a step further by actively decelerating the QX60 ahead of curves, even reading speed limit signs, and automatically adjusting the crossover’s speed accordingly.
In all trims, the QX60 comes standard with active safety systems including Rear Automatic Braking, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, and Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, showing INFINITI’s dedication to customer safety.
As per the press release, the 2022 Infiniti QX60 should land on North American shores by the end of the year. More details regarding the pricing will be revealed as we get closer to the launch date.
