2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package

2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Looks Cleaner Without a Rear Spoiler

The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring goes wingless, marking the second generation of a gentleman’s GT3.

The 911 GT3 is one of Porsche’s best-selling GT’s. Consequently, it only made sense when the German automaker announced a brand new Touring package for the 992 generation. The new 2022 GT3 Touring ditches the rear wing hanging from the swan neck pylons in favor of an automated rear spoiler that can be raised or lowered with just a touch. Replacing the fixed rear wing with an automated spoiler gives the car a new dynamic, helping it achieve a duality in both performance and aesthetics.

The Touring variant also gets a few tweaks of its own, including a brand new custom grille and silver window trims. Other notable changes include a shiny Touring badge on the rear bumper and silver exhaust tips.

Under the hood, the 2022 GT3 Touring comes with a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six producing a whopping 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque with a 9000 rpm rev limiter. The seven-speed PDK transfers that power to the rear wheels; however, a six-speed manual is also available as a no-cost option. When equipped with the PDK, the 2022 GT3 Touring can do 0-60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds flat and reach an impressive top speed of 199 miles per hour for the manual variant and 197 mph for the automatic.

Moreover, this 500-horsepower beast sits on massive  20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels and comes with various Touring-specific enhancements. For instance, Porsche offers the Touring with premium quality leather-covered seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and black leather covering the upper portion of the dash while the lower part’s color is left to the customer’s choice.

The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring will hit US showrooms later this year with prices starting from $161,000 excluding $1,350 in processing fees. However, customers living in the state of California can only buy the seven-speed PDK variant since the state’s automotive laws prohibit the sale of the manual gearbox option “over sound regulations.”

“The 2022 911 GT3 Touring is carefully built to meet the expectation of our customers. At the same time, we respect automotive rules and regulations and are currently working to make the manual 911 GT3 much more compliant with state sanctioned guidelines,” read Porsche’s official statement on the matter.

Too bad, Cali!
