The VW Arteon, Big Sur concept, features a Forest Green color wrap, large 20-inch wheels, performance tires, and a 1.5-inch lower sports suspension.
The VW Enthusiasts Fleet kicked off in style for 2021, with two striking concepts: the one-of-a-kind Blue Lagoon Jetta GLI and the all-black Tiguan SE R-Line Black RiNo. Now, the fan’s favorite fleet welcomes the ‘Arteon Big Sur’ concept, named after the mountainous and dramatically scenic stretch of Coastal California.
The Arteon Big Sur has a fairly simple recipe. Begin with the recently facelifted 2021 Urano Gray Arteon SEL Premium R-Line and give it a deep shade of green known as “Forest Green.” Don’t mistake this color for a paint job, though; it’s actually a custom vinyl wrap of the hue that originally featured on the all-green Golf R presented by Rotiform at SEMA, the famed automobile aftermarket show, back in 2019. The concept is a work of imagination by VW Enthusiast and Motorsport Marketing Specialist Sean Maynard, Rory Stramer and Gil Plasencia of FMS Automotive, and Rotiform’s Jason Whipple.
According to VW, the eye-catching green wrap includes its internal door jambs and side body parts of the Arteon Big Sur. That way, the vivid color is visible even when you open the doors. The design took roughly 50-60 hours to complete because the crew had to remove the vehicle’s doors, tailgate, and hood and repeat the process until perfect.
Meanwhile, cosmetic changes aren’t confined to vinyl wrap. The Arteon Big Sur also sports a custom-made body kit with new front splitters, side body parts, and a spoiler. VW also installed 20-inch Rotiform TUF-R cast Monoblock wheels shod in Continental Extreme Contact rubber. Finally, the sedan features a coil-over suspension, which results in a 1.5-inch lower stance.
This Arteon Big Sur, like previous Enthusiast Fleet concepts, has seen no powertrain changes. Hence, its 268hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder stays the same, paired to an 8-speed AMT gearbox.
The Arteon Big Sur, along with other Enthusiast Fleet concepts, will be on display to the public during enthusiast events throughout the United States.
