Volkswagen Launches Basecamp Accessory Line for the Taos Crossover

Volkswagen Taos now looks more off-road-ready than ever, thanks to the all-new Basecamp accessory package.

Its hardly been a fortnight ago when Volkswagen introduced the Taos Basecamp concept and now the German giant just revealed the production version. By launching another distinct line, VW is determined to dominate the compact crossover segment in various markets worldwide.

The company said it’s excited to offer the new Taos accessory collection following the tremendously positive feedback it received regarding the Atlas Basecamp kit. And with all Basecamp accessories installed, the Taos is a true visual delight. It now comes with considerably more muscular front and rear fender flare cladding, as well as integrated splash guards, lower door side plates and a Basecamp badge on the front grille.

Furthermore, other accessories include the Rubber MuddyBuddy and Monster Mats to keep the floor clean. Also, Bumperdillo protectors keep the back bumper safe while handling luggage.

“The Taos makes a bold first impression,” said Hein Schafer, Senior Vice President of Product Marketing and Strategy at Volkswagen of America. “Our goal is to build on the vehicle’s dynamic exterior design and provide customers with an extensive catalog of accessory options that cater directly to their desires for distinctive styling and functionality.”

Worth mentioning, the Taos Basecamp concept had orange decorative lines gracing the front fascia, mirrors, and side skirts. Unfortunately, they did not find their way to the production model. Other missing features are custom Fifteen52 wheels, off-road tires, and the unique Thule Canyon XT roof rack with embedded off-road LED lights. Sadly, Volkswagen also omitted raised suspensions, which would’ve made the Basecamp Taos a tad more exciting.

Volkswagen revealed that the entire Basecamp Accessory Line would cost $999, but customers can also buy components individually as well. However, the Basecamp badge on the front grille will only be available upon purchase of the complete kit. The installation can be performed at your nearest VW dealership at an additional cost and will start later this month.
