Alfa Romeo brings back its famous badge to the new Giulia GTA and GTAm models, two fast sports sedans marking the company’s 110 years of existence.
These limited-edition models will only be restricted to 500 units, that too, with a 50:50 split. Both models will be available for customers in Europe, Middle East, and the African subcontinent. Currently, there are no plans to introduce the Giulia GTA and GTAm in the US market, although reports suggest the company might bring that into consideration.
Procured from Alfa Romeo’s state-of-the-art performance sedan, both the Giulia GTA and GTAm carry an enhanced version of the brand’s 2.9-liter V6 Bi-turbo engine. The Ferrari-sourced unit now produces 540 hp, enough for a 0-62 mph sprint in just 3.6 seconds! Apart from the engine, credit goes to the new launch control system that Alfa Romeo has installed in both models. Furthermore, a new titanium exhaust system by Akrapovič is also onboard; along with some ECU tuning, the car will shoot down the road like a bullet.
Alfa Romeo has also put a major focus on weight reduction for a better weight/power ratio. The adoption of lightweight materials like carbon fiber, aluminum, and other composites has helped cut down the weight by 100 kg.
The Giulia GTA also has an aggressive-looking front bumper with air-intake vents, a chin splitter (only in GTAm), new side skirts, and a massive rear spoiler on the boot lid. Meanwhile, the GTAm gets an adjustable rear spoiler and an active front spoiler, extendable to 40mm for track purposes.
Both the GTA and GTAm sit on 20-inch center-lock alloy wheels wearing Michelin Cup 2 tires. Moreover, the stance is quite wide, thanks to the 50mm wider tracks front and rear.
Inside the cabin, the Giulia GTA features full Alcantara upholstery for a sportier experience. Besides, the dashboard, steering wheel, center console, and door panels feature eye-catchy red double stitching.
However, the GTAm, which is more track-oriented among the two, ditches rear seats completely. Instead, it incorporates a half-cage, moldings specially designed to hold two helmets, and a six-point seatbelt system. Even the rear windows are made out of polycarbonate material rather than glass.
The Giulia GTA certainly sounds exciting, but it won’t come cheap. Alfa Romeo asks €175,000 ($211,000) while the GTAm starts at €180,000 ($217,000). Customers will get a bell helmet, a car cover, and special services from the company. Buyers who opt for the GTAm version will also receive a full Alpinestars racing suit.
