Amazon Music Car Mode

Amazon Music Now Has a Car Mode with Simpler Controls

The much-needed Car Mode for Amazon Music is here with larger fonts, customizable presets, and Alexa on call for advanced road safety.

The technology and e-commerce giant Amazon has recently launched a new feature within its Amazon Music app called Car Mode. The aim is, of course, to assist in playback management for Android and iOS users while minimizing driver inattentiveness.

With distracted driving being a major cause of road accidents, this latest feature and its driver-friendly interface will come in handy, especially in those vehicles without standard Apple CarPlay or Android Auto support.

Interestingly, Amazon Music will automatically switch to Car Mode when you connect your smartphone to the car audio system via Bluetooth. You’ll find that the buttons and texts are larger on this interface along with easy-peasy controls, preventing you from squinting at your smartphone screen while driving. The customizable presets play your favorite song, artist, genre, playlist, or stream stations even without browsing the songs yourself.

Plus, Amazon Alexa says hello too! You can go road-tripping with all your favorite songs without even lifting your hands off the wheel. A complete hands-free experience!

If you aren’t that fond of the Car Mode, you have the option to switch back to the traditional Amazon Music interface by clicking on the icon at the top left corner on your phone (not the safest option while driving, though). You can also decide on the automatic shift to Car Mode in the app settings. When you’re getting out of the car, simply disconnecting the Bluetooth or tap on the “Exit Car Mode” to bring it back to normal.

The latest Car Mode feature is, in fact, very similar to its rival music streaming app Spotify’s own Car View functionality. Considering Amazon Music’s entry into the market as early as 2007, this new and much-needed update is a relatively late addition to the app when compared to its competitors.

Worth mentioning, to access the Car Mode in Amazon Music, you’ll need to have the latest version of the app installed on your phone from Google Play OR App Store, respectively (v10.7.0 for iOS and v17.7.4 on Android).
