Mercedes-Benz Introduces Redesigned 2022 CLS Four-Door Coupe

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the facelifted 2022 CLS four-door coupe with multiple tech upgrades and a few exterior styling elements.

The 2022 CLS be available only with the 4MATIC system in the US and only in the CLS450 guise. Hence, Mercedes-Benz will drop the base model and the high-end CLS53. Like the pre-facelift model, the 2022 CLS will have the same mild-hybrid system containing a 3.0L inline-six turbo and a 48V motor. The powertrain produces a combined 362 hp from 5,500 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque from 1,600 rpm. However, an EQ boost button can give the driver 21 HP and 184 lb-ft of torque for short bursts. The power goes to all four wheels via a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission as standard. The CLS can hit 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds and an electronically-capped top speed of 130mph.

Mercedes has opted for a new front bumper with showy air intakes and a new grille design on the outside. There is also a new silver chrome front splitter and new side sills. Moreover, the rear bumper now also features a silver chrome rear diffuser. Mercedes has included new 19-inch wheels as standard, along with an AMG Body Styling kit for the exterior. The kit provides a sporty and crispy look with a special front bumper, chrome front splitter, and gloss black aero flaps. Two-color options are available for the special 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard. Luxury features, including 64-color ambient lighting and a large sunroof, are also available for the 2022 CLS.

The 2022 CLS will come with many driver and safety assist systems with augmented reality navigation, a heads-up display, and a 360-degree camera on the list. The driver assistance package features adaptive cruise control, active steering assistance, and speed adaptation.

Mercedes hasn’t revealed the starting price; however, given that the base model is gone, expect a sizeable increase to the $70,300 2021 CLS.
