The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 will receive an additional entry-level trim, although it would carry the same name as the mid-level trim, “Elevation.”
If we just lost you here, no worries. The naming is quite confusing considering that the Sierra pickup truck is already available with a similarly-named trim. However, the automaker has already done the same thing before with the GMC Canyon, which is available with two trims with identical names—the entry-level Elevation and the standard Elevation. And apparently, GMC will adopt the same approach on the 2021 Sierra 1500.
To clear the doubts, GM Authority reports that the entry-level Elevation trim comes with vehicle code ‘3VL’, whereas the regular trim obtains vehicle code 3SB. The publication also notes that the new entry-level Elevation trim is available only on Sierra’s Double Cab 4WD and Crew Cab / Short Bed 4WD versions. Moreover, it will come with a single-engine option—a 2.7-liter four-cylinder turbocharged unit, generating 310hp and 473Nm (348lb-ft) of peak torque. The eight-speed automatic transmission also comes as standard with the new trim.
Furthermore, the P275/60R20SL all-terrain Blackwall tires are standard on the 3VL, although they come as optional on other trims. The 3VL trim is fitted with a bed-mounted 120-volt power outlet as standard and comes with a 40/20/40 split front seat setup.
The outlet has also listed several items not available on the entry-level Elevation but optional on the regular Elevation trim. These include the Driver Alert package, X31 Off-Road Suspension Package, X31 Off-Road and Protection Package, 8-inch diagonal premium infotainment system, Bose Sound System, and Kicker MultiPro Audio System, to name a few.
As of now, GM has not released any photos or pricing details of the new GMC Sierra entry-level Elevation trim, but we’ll keep you updated when it does.
Stay tuned!
