INFINITI QX60 - Development Towing capability

INFINITI Showcases All-new 2022 QX60 with Increased Towing Capacity

INFINITI teased its new 2022 QX60 crossover with an updated look, more features, and an improved towing capacity.

The SUV has gone through meticulous testing to make sure it can perform better than its predecessor. To achieve such a feat, INFINITI worked on one particular area to bring the best-in-class towing capacity of any full-size SUV currently on the market.

The 2022 QX60 will come with a whopping 6,000-pound towing capacity. That’s 20% more than the previous generation and more than its direct competitors. Such a towing capacity allows the QX60 to pull a 22-foot trailer or a motorized vehicle with ease. INFINITI has updated the transmission oil cooler, integrated a hitch receiver, trailer-tuned the stability programming, and installed dedicated prewiring harnesses to support the increased towing ability.

Like the previous generation, the 2022 QX60 will feature the familiar 295 HP 3.5L V6 engine. Although the engine has not seen any improvement, the gearbox certainly does. Notably, INFINITI has replaced the CVT with a new ZF-developed nine-speed automatic, the same gearbox from the Nissan Pathfinder. However, with such a high towing capacity, the new QX60 needs to have more torque than the 270 lb-ft of torque from the older version.

The 2022 QX60 has experienced rigorous testing over the past months, both in the hot Arizona weather and the cold Alaskan weather. Moreover, the tests covered all types of terrain, so we can expect better off-road abilities. Ultimately, the company assures that customers don’t have to worry about overheating or other problems when towing heavy loads.

INFINITI teased the design last year with the QX60 Monograph Concept. We expect the production model to feature most of the design elements, like the upright grille, thin-slit headlights, and tapered greenhouse. Nissan hasn’t declared us an official reveal date yet, but it should be available in the US and Canada later this year.
