2021 Nissan Note Receives Fresh Design, Electrified Engines

The 2021 Nissan Note receives a complete revamp in Japan, including a more aggressive design and a hybrid powertrain.

Nissan has revealed the third-gen Note via an online launch event. The Note has been unavailable in Europe since 2017, but it has consistently been the best-selling Nissan car in Japan. Unlike its predecessor, the all-new model will feature an electrified powertrain. Japanese customers will get their first orders starting December 23.

Nissan made notable design updates and engine refresh of the all-new Note. It has adopted the same design language as the Nissan Ariya – Timeless Japanese Futurism. Comparatively, the Nissan Note is sportier and more modern than the outgoing eight-year-old model. Upfront, the car now features the signature V-motion grille, which is now wider and deeper with less chrome. Furthermore, there are now aggressive-looking headlamps, a sleek new bumper, sharper air intakes, and 13 color variations to choose from.

Inside, the Note’s cabin follows an all-black theme. Despite the shorter wheelbase, it offers a great amount of space and legroom for passengers. There are also ‘Zero Gravity’ seats with large armrests and a large touchscreen display in the middle of the dashboard, reportedly “to enables easier access to the electronic shift lever”. Moreover, the revamped Note now offers some handy tech, including wireless charging, a large console, and Nissan’s ProPilot and safety features.

Moving on to the most exciting update of the new Note: Nissan’s new e-Power hybrid system. The base model now comes with a hybrid setup with a 1.2-liter gasoline generator that powers an electric motor and a Li-ion battery.

Nissan hasn’t revealed any official numbers yet, but the new Note is expected to produce 114 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque.

A total of three variants will be available once the Note goes on sale in December.

More details to come soon.
