Judging by the Tucson already on sale in Europe and Korea, the crossover’s upcoming iteration will be a real looker.
It has been a very disappointing year for the automotive industry, especially for us fans. However, the last months of 2021 might be a bit brighter for Hyundai enthusiasts as the Korean carmaker will finally unveil its all-new Tucson in the US on November 9.
The premiere event will take place in West Hollywood, California. However, due to the pandemic, Hyundai prepared a virtual online event. The manufacturer teased the Tucson fairly long, which certainly built anticipation, with the most revealing images only revealed recently.
Upon close inspection, the North-American model looks similar to the model already on sale in Europe and Korea. Not that this is a bad thing – the Tucson over there is quite the stunner.
The 2022 Tucson should arrive in the US with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 187 bhp and 182 lb-ft of torque. Hyundai will also offer a hybrid turbocharged 1.6-liter powertrain producing 227 bhp or 258 b-ft of torque.
Now it will be interesting to see whether Hyundai will launch the Tucson in America with multiple wheelbase options. With that being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if the North American market would only get the extended wheelbase option since US customers prefer larger vehicles.
On paper, the 2022 Tucson is a stylish crossover with reasonably powerful engines. If Hyundai manages to attract attention by pricing it aggressively, the upcoming model could very well capture a fair market share, just like its predecessor.
