International Truck

International Trucks offers a diverse line-up of trucks produced under the ownership of Navistar International Corporation. The corporation was founded in 1986 as a successor to the International Harvester Company (IHC), an agricultural and construction equipment manufacturer. The IHC's roots go back to the early 1900s, when it was formed due to a massive merger involving five different companies. International Harvester was extremely popular in the farming equipment industry and enjoyed a dominant market share thanks to innovative products and good business practices. IHC even experienced unmatched success starting in the mid-1920s lasting around three decades despite fierce competition and, of course, the Second World War.

However, the 60s & 70s saw profit margins dwindle in all sectors despite repeated efforts by the company's top brass to improve the situation. As the 80s were right around the corner, the company's dire financial condition was in no mood of improving. To add to the troubles, several union leaders, unhappy with the way things were going, called for a massive strike that took a huge blow to the finances. In a desperate bid to keep the business afloat, senior leadership embarked on a selling spree, looking to get rid of loss-making or highly valuable entities alike for whatever cash they could muster. Every sub-division and production facility was sold, except for the engine and truck divisions, which were retained and given a new corporate name.

IHC's strategy proved to bear fruit as even though the business was much less diverse than before, at least it still existed. Moreover, it was as if dark clouds moved aside to make room for a bright sunny day for Navistar in the form of the unprecedented popularity surge of diesel engines in the final decades of the 20th century. Caring about the climate may not have been in fashion back then.

Over the years, the International Harvester Company and Navistar International Corporation have produced some of the most reliable trucks with powerful diesel engines. Together, both companies have more than a century of experience, so it is safe to say they know what they are doing. Still, no matter how reliable they are, they’ll still need to be repaired at some point. To make sure you stay on top of your truck’s service intervals, your best bet is to get your hands on an International truck owner’s manual.

Not to mention that a truck with such an extensive history deserves only the best maintenance and upkeep. However, it can be challenging to find skilled mechanics to work on some of the older models. But don't worry, all you have to do is access one of our International Truck operator’s manuals to gain the ability to work on the truck yourself instantly.

The original equipment manufacturer prepares these International Truck repair manuals while developing the truck, so you can follow the detailed step-by-step instructions with confidence. Furthermore, the content is described using easy-to-understand and straightforward language with complex technical terms kept to a minimum. Now all that's left is for you to choose your specific truck model from the list and access your International Truck service manual in a digital format for added convenience.
