Polaris
Polaris Inc. is a manufacturer of Powersports equipment such as ATVs, snowmobiles, motorcycles, snow bikes, and even pontoon boats. Although it only started enjoying significant public attention until recent years, the American company has been around for more than 65 years. Indeed, the company was established in 1954 by three bright and ambitious young men — Edgar Hetteen, Allen Hetteen, and David Johnson.
The initial goal was to develop a vehicle that could easily travel through treacherous snow and provide access to otherwise hard-to-reach areas. The main aim was for the vehicle to be used by hunters to gain unhindered access to prime hunting locations throughout the year.
Polaris’ first snowmobile was produced using a grain silo conveyer belt as the track, an old car bumper for skis, and a small motor. As strange as the final product looked, Polaris engineers quickly realized that they might be onto something here. After a few months and some serious hard work, Polaris refined the original idea and created something much more natural and powerful. Sure, the early models weighed more than 1,000 lbs. and went no more than 20 mph, but the very idea of a vehicle capable of driving on mushy snow was enough to garner sufficient buzz. As the years went by, Polaris kept coming up with better and more refined models while the snowmobile business saw several new players entering and looking to capitalize on its sudden popularity.
A few decades later, the American company started producing All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and made a name for itself in the off-road realm. The new business also experienced decent growth and gradually expanded its product line-up to include motorcycles and other road vehicles. Polaris also modified and sold some of its on-road vehicles for commercial and military purposes to clients around the globe.
Of late, the brand has been giving immense importance to shifting its products from combustion to electric power sources. This apparent shift can be seen by recent acquisitions or large-scale investments in other leading electric start-ups. We won’t be surprised once Polaris announces it’s working on electric sleds, especially since snowmobiles have always been the brand’s main focus, owing to historical ties.
While electric snowmobiles may still be a while away, let’s focus on maintaining the existing ICE-powered Polaris snowmobiles. And that is where our snowmobile repair manuals come in; they are packed with helpful information, including wiring diagrams, troubleshooting procedures, and step-by-step instructions to fix common problems — never pay another cent in labor charges again. Sounds nice?
Simply choose the right Polaris snowmobile model from the list and access the relevant snowmobile manual in a digital format, directly on your phone or laptop. These manuals are prepared by Polaris itself, so you can trust the tips, tricks, and fixes provided and keep your snowmobile in tip-top shape for years to come!
