GENERAL INFORMATION SERVICE RULES 1. Use genu i ne Honda or Honda-recommended parts and lubricants or their equivalents. Parts that do not meet Honda's design specifications may cause damage to the vehicle. 2. Use the special tools designed fo r this product to avoid damage and incorrect assembly. 3. Use only metric tools when servicing the vehicle. Metric bolts, nu ts and scr ews are not inte r changeable with En glish fasteners. 4. Install new gaskets, O-rings, cotter pins, and lock plates when reassembling. 5. When tightening bolts or nuts, begin with the large r diamete r or inner bolt first. Then tighten to the specified torque diagonally in incremental steps unless a particular sequence is specified. 6. Clean parts in cleaning solvent upon disassembly. Lub ricate any sliding surfaces before r eassembly . 7. After reassembly, check all parts fo r p roper installation and operation. 8. Route all electrical wires as show in the Cable and Harness Routing (page 1-21). 9. Do not bend or twist control cables. Damage the control cables will not operates smoothly and may stick or bind . LABELS THROTTLE BODY IDENTIFICATION NUMBER The name plate (U.S.A. type only) is located on the left side of the front upper arm pipe. NAME PLATE (U.S.A type) The safety certification label (Canada type only) is located on the left side of the front upper arm pipe. The color label is attached on the left side of the frame under the mud guard. When ordering color coded parts, always specify the designated color code.
