BSA Service Repair Motorbike Manuals

During the middle of the 1930’s, a British manufacturer began producing some of the most noteworthy motorcycles that the world has ever seen. Technicians that have to perform maintenance on motorcycles or vehicles produced by this British company can refer to a BSA workshop manual. Owners can also refer to these manuals to ensure that their own prized possessions will last a lifetime.

BSA stood for Birmingham Small Arms Company Limited which originally started out as an industrial combine. This combine included a wide range of things – military and sporting firearms, motorcycles, vehicles such as buses, iron castings and even machinery tools. While BSA has not been in operation since 1972, their products can still be found all over the world.

BSA motorcycles were a small sector of the entire company’s assets but they did stand for a lot. The Gold Star was one of the most notable motorcycles to come from BSA – both for riding and showroom purposes. The A7 (500 Twin) and A10 (650 Twin) were two other very respectable and impressive motorcycles produced and sold by BSA during its production years.

An overhead valve 493cc single motorcycle was released by BSA and it was titled the Sloper because it had a sloped angle cylinder. Buyers of the BSA OHV were quite impressed because at the time, other motorcycles had single cylinders with side valves, or flat heads. Over the years, BSA released a line of other motorcycles. The Triumph 500 speed Twin was released in 1937 and it changed the game! It’s frame was narrow and light like a single-framed motorcycle but the engine had the power of a V-twin.

The late 40’s and early 50’s saw continuous advancements by BSA which included an acquisition of Triumph, another motorcycle company. Throughout this time, BSA’s vertical twin motorcycles continued to impress the world. They underwent a redesign that changed the overall styling, however, BSA buyers were not that thrilled. They preferred the originality that BSA had once provided.

Today, BSA motorcycles can be found all over the world, European markets especially. The North American market as well as some of the Asian ones also did quite well with sales. Owners of these motorcycles can perform routine maintenance to ensure longevity. A BSA service manual can help lead the way.
