BMW is one of the most notable companies that manufactures motorcycles and motorbikes. Today, BMW R1200s represent a number of BMW motorcycles with different engines and designs. The R-series motorcycles are equipped with a twin-cylinder – otherwise, referred to as boxer engines. Since 2005, BMW has been putting these types of engines into their R-series motorcycles, all of which hold the R1200 name, along with another letter to represent the differences. In 2005, BMW launched a revamped version of the boxer engine to their R-series motorcycles. Not long after, the R1200RT and ST were also introduced – the first being a tourer and the latter being a sports tourer.

2017 saw BMW implement liquid-cooled boxer engines into their R-series models while 2018 only saw color changes. Some of the other changes included a revised selector drum actuator and an improved transmission shaft.

To this day, BMW continues to produce motorcycles that live up to the R1200 name. Currently, the R1250 GS and the Adventure version, as well as the R1250 RT model, are still in production. They can be found all over the world, predominantly in European and North American markets. And, even though the older R1200 versions are no longer in production, they can still be found everywhere.
