The cylinder plug is equipped with an
O-ring.
When the O-ring is broken,
excessively squashed or too rigid,
replace it.
Take the suitable extraction tool and
screw it inside the threaded hole at the
foot of the stem. By pulling, seizing the
handle and pushing the stem head,
pull it out of the barrel.
The tool will also be useful in order to
keep the stem inside its slide, avoiding
any friction of the chromium-plated
surface with the internal part of the
barrel.

the tool.
During the extraction of the stem, hold
it with one hand.
Once the stem has been pulled out of
the barrel, place it on a soft surface or
on some V-grooved wood beams.

Clamp the stem in a vice, by
interposing between the stem and the
jaws two aluminium angular
elements.
By means of a spring collet - for
instance, the one used for safety
elastic washers - widen the stop ring
by making it slide along the stem
edge.
In the event that tools are worse,
using cutting nippers, clamp the stop
ring and remove it from its housing,
making it slide along the stem edge.
By means of a flat-end screwdriver, lift
the scraper by pulling it out of the
barrel.

By means of a punch, lift and remove
the O-ring that is placed over the
gasket.
Using a flat-end screwdriver, lift and
remove the gasket from its own
housing.
Once all the different components of
the lifting cylinder have been
degreased, check their working order
and replace the worn out ones.
