INTRODUCTION TO THE OWNER Your Case dealer has given you a copy of the Owners Warranty Registration and instructions on machine operation, maintenance, and safety. If you do not completely understand these instructions, see your Case dealer for more information. Read this manual before you start the engine or operate the machine. If you need more information, see your Case dealer. The Case Company can make changes in design or specifications of the machine at any time with no obligation for these changes. 2
INTRODUCTION AFTER DELIVERY CHECK Two copies of the After Delivery Check are in the back of this manual. One copy is for you and one copy is for the dealer. Make sure that your Case dealer does the After Delivery Check after the first 20 hours of machine operation. NOTE: Your cost for this inspection will be for filters, oil, or other accesso- ries. If the dealer comes to your machine, there can also be a cost for the time and distance. RIGHT, LEFT, FRONT, AND REAR OF MACHINE Right-hand and left-hand, when used in this manual, indicate the right and left sides of the machine as seen from the operators seat. T.O. operating speed is 540 rpm. Do not operate P. T.O. in excess of 550 rpm. Excess P. T.O. speed could cause equipment hazard resulting in personal injury. Do not operate P. SAFETY __________________________________ ___ WARNING: Do not remove engine side panels except for servic- ing. To insure proper engine cooling and/or prevent injury resulting from contact with rotating parts, reinstall before starting engine. 321-5701 WARNING: If you use the backhoe to lift a load that is too heavy, the machine can turn over or the load can fall out of control. Before you lift objects with the backhoe, see the operator's manual topic "Lifting With the Backhoe". If you do not follow these instructions, severe injury can occur to you or other persons in the area. 321-6046 CAUTION: Stop engine before dismounting. Operate tractor and equipment controls from seat position only. Lower or block elevated components and engage hand brake be- fore leaving machine. Lock brake pedals together for road travel. Check local laws before operating on highway. Do not permit riders on machine. Warn all personnel who may be servicing or in path of machine before starting. 321-6262 WARNING: If you service the machine with the loader lift arms raised, always use the support strut. 1. Empty the loader bucket, raise the loader lift arms to maximum height and stop the engine. 2. Remove the rear pin from the support strut and lower the sup- port strut onto the cylinder rod. 3. Install the rear pin in the support strut. 4. Slowly lower the lift arms onto the support strut. If you do not follow this procedure, you can cause serious injury or death if the loader arms are lowered by accident. 321-6413 8
