INTRODUCTION The purpose of this bulletin is to provide the instructions for updating the Navigation Operating Software using the Navigation Program Update Disc. This update is for the operat- ing system only and does not update the map data in any way. The updated software will ad- dress the following issue. The navigation operation buttons “Map” “Dest” “Menu” and “Info” are inoperative. The issue will only occur once on initial start up during one drive cycle, if the transmission gear selector (auto or manual) is put in reverse and taken out very quickly. Legacy & Outback COUNTERMEASURE IN PRODUCTION The updated software was used in production starting mid-September, 2010. Continued... The previously released updates are all included in this version. Note: Should you require an additional Navigation Program Update Disc, it can be ordered through parts, Part # SOA635087. REPAIR PROCEDURE/INFORMATION Note: If at any time the (+) positive or (-) negative battery cable is disconnected; the update procedure will need to be performed AGAIN going forward. 1) Turn ignition switch to the “ON” position. 2) Eject Map Disc from Navigation unit. • Screen will read “Please insert the Map Disc”. 3) Load the Navigation Update Disc. • Screen will go blank for a moment. • Screen will read “System loading. Don’t turn off the power”. • After completion of update, screen will go blank, push agree button. • Screen will read “Disc is not a Map Disc”. 4) Eject Navigation Update Disc. • Screen will read “Disc is not a MAP DVD”. 5) Insert the Map Disc. The Program Update process has been completed.
