1.1 Safety precautions when working on
vehicles with a start/stop system
Please note the following when working on vehicles with a start/
stop system:
WARNING
Injury hazard as a result of automatic engine start in vehicles
with start/stop system.
♦ If the start/stop system of a vehicle is activated, the en‐
gine can start automatically, if required. A message will
appear in the dash panel insert.
♦ When working on the vehicle, make sure that the Start/
Stop system is deactivated (switch off the ignition; then
switch the ignition on again, if necessary).
1.2 Safety precautions during road tests in
which test and measuring equipment is
used
Observe following if test and measuring instruments are re‐
quired during a road test:
WARNING
Risk of accident due to distraction and inadequate securing
of test and measuring equipment.
Danger as a result of activation of front passenger airbag in
event of an accident.
• Operation of test and measuring equipment while driving
results in distraction.
• The risk of injuries increases significantly when test and
measuring equipment is not secured.
♦ Always secure testing equipment to the rear seat with a
strap and have them operated from there by a second
person.

2.1 Contact corrosion
Contact corrosion can occur if unsuitable fasteners are used on
the vehicle (bolts, nuts, washers etc.).
For this reason, only fasteners with a special surface coating
have been fitted on the vehicle.
In addition, rubber, plastic and adhesives are made of non-con‐
ductive materials.
If there is any doubt about the suitability of parts, a general rule
is to use new parts ⇒ Electronic Parts Catalogue.
Please note:
♦ Only use genuine replacement parts which are tested and
compatible with aluminium.
♦ Only use SEAT accessories.
♦ Damage caused by contact corrosion is not covered under
warranty.
2.2 Routing and securing lines
♦ Mark lines prior to removal to prevent them from being inter‐
changed and to ensure that they are fitted in their original
positions. This applies for fuel, hydraulic and vacuum lines
as well as lines for activated charcoal filter system and elec‐
trical wiring. Make sketches or take photographs if necessa‐
ry.
♦ To prevent damaging pipes, hoses and wiring, ensure suffi‐
cient clearance from all moving or hot components in engine
compartment (little space in engine compartment).
