1.4 l injection engine with manual gearbox Special tools and workshop equipment required  Torque wrench -SAT 8010- Removal: – Disconnect battery . → Chapter – Remove the protective hood from the magnetic switch by pushing it in the - direction of the arrow-. – Loosen the positive line -1- and disconnect connector from terminal 50 -2-. – Remove the earth cable from the starter motor securing screw -arrow-. Page 2 of 4 1.4 l injection engine with manual gearbox 2016.02.02 vw-wi://rl/S.en-GB.S01DDXX8S.wi::61980309.xml?xsl=3

– Remove the starter motor securing screw - arrow-. – Removing the sound proofing element →Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.50. – Remove bolt -1- securing the lower part of the starter motor. – Remove the cable tie -2-. – Remove the starter motor securing screw - arrow-. – Remove starter motor. Fitting: Installation is carried out in the reverse order, noting the following: – Tighten the fastening bolts or nuts to the torques shown → Chapter . 1.4 l TSI engine with manual gearbox Special tools and workshop equipment required  Torque wrench -S.AT 8010- Removal: – Disconnect battery. – Unblock the depression hose -arrow- and disconnect. – Lift the engine cover off upwards from the rubber housing -1- and remove forwards in -the direction of the arrow-. – Remove air filter housing →Engine, mixture preparation; Rep. gr.24. – Unlock the connector -1- and separate. – Remove the protective hood -1- from the magnetic switch, pushing it in the -direction of the arrow-. Page 2 of 4 1.4 l TSI engine with manual gearbox 2016.02.02 vw-wi://rl/S.en-GB.S01DDXX8S.wi::61980310.xml?xsl=3

– Unscrew the fastening nut -1- and remove the positive cable -2- from the magnetic switch connection thread. – Undo the nut -1- on the upper fastening screw of the starter motor and remove the earth cable -2-. – Undo the bolt located behind for the upper fastening of the starter motor. – Removing the sound proofing element →Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.50. – Undo the nut -1- and remove the cable support -2- from the lower fastening bolt of the starter motor. – Remove bolt -2- securing the lower part of the starter motor. – Remove starter motor -1- from the vehicle in a downwards direction. Installing: Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following: – Tighten the fastening bolts or nuts to the torques shown → Chapter . Installation Installation is carried out in reverse order, noting the following: – To facilitate the positioning of the alternator, move drive bushes for securing bolts back slightly. – Fit the poly V-belt onto the crankshaft and air conditioner compressor pulleys. – As a final step, position Poly-V belt on alternator pulley and slacken off tensioning device. – Check that poly V-belt is properly seated.  Poly-V belt routing on vehicles with air conditioner – Connect battery.
